Sound Connections is delighted that we have a new Director joining the team from May this year - Philip Flood.

Philip comes to us from the London Symphony Orchestra where he is Head of LSO Discovery, their education and community programme. LSO Discovery works in partnership with local communities to bring musical opportunities to everyone living around LSO St. Luke's, the home of LSO Discovery. There are music sessions for under-fives and their carers, a vibrant youth choir, youth projects fusing urban and classical music, a community choir and free lunchtime concerts. The programme also takes the workof the orchestra into schools and community projects and nurtures the talents of young musicians across London, the South East and internationally.

As well as this range of experience in creating music opportunities for young people, Philip has worked as Education Director for Spitalfields Festival, as Head of Music and Media at Kingsway College in Camden and initially taught music in a Hackney secondary school. He is also a special advisor on music education and contemporary music to a number of other organisations.

Philip is looking forward to working with the Sound Connections team to help our members ensure that there will continue to be quality music opportunities for all young Londoners.
