We believe that it is important for those working or wanting to work in the music education sector to have the opportunity to meet together and debate issues that affect them.

As a member of Sound Connections you are part of a rich network of individuals and organisations from across London who are committed to giving young people the best possible experience of music making.

As well as opportunities to engage with each other online through our Facebook page, on Twitter and via the website, we also organise regular networking events, training opportunities and seminars which allow members to meet each other, get updated on the latest developments in music and music education and talk about their own work.

Our biannual ‘Would Like to Meet…’ networking event and our newly established ‘London Early Years Music Leaders Network’.

Would Like to Meet…

‘Would Like to Meet…’ gives our members a great chance to meet, share and learn from others in the sector. These twice-yearly events allow the Sound Connections team and its London-wide membership to come together for wine, music, nibbles and music, and to find out more about the latest news in the world of music education.

Our most recent event at City Hall in July was attended by music organisations, freelance practitioners, music services, national music organisations, local authority representatives and community musicians. The next ‘Would Like to Meet…’ will take place in November 2013.

“Had a good evening meeting some interesting characters as well as a chance to discuss themes of the moment and people’s concerns – all useful. Creating small informal networking opportunities is something we don’t do enough of as a sector, so it was good to see Sound Connections taking a lead in this.”
Attendee, Would Like to Meet…

“I thought it was a good evening and really enjoyed it. And a good mix of people. You’ve got something really valuable there.”
Paul Broadhurst, Senior Cultural Policy Officer – Music, Greater London Authority
