Activate Fund – Grantees Announced

We are delighted to announce our ACTIVATE fund grantees: Bromley Youth Music Trust, Kingston Music Service & Tri-borough Music Hub, Merton Music Foundation and Wandsworth Music!

Activate is Sound Connections brand-new investment programme for London-based Music Education Hubs to develop and embed youth voice in their work. Through this fund we are supporting and investing in Hubs that already have a demonstrable commitment to, and practice of, youth voice, and are ready to take their next steps up the Ladder of Participation.

More about the projects:

  • Bromley Youth Music Trust will be developing their youth collective
  • Kingston Music Service & Tri-borough Music Hub will be developing an online Music Youth Conference
  • Merton Music Foundation will develop a young trustees board
  • Wandsworth Music will take the next steps with their youth council

Here’s a few words from a couple of our grantees…

“The Tri-borough Music Hub and Kingston Music Service are delighted to be awarded with an activate grant from Sound Connections to develop a unique digital online Music Youth Conference, designed by young people from our London based music hubs for young people.”

“At Wandsworth Music, we want to develop the way we gather opinions and ideas of our students, have diverse role models and allow young people’s voices to be heard, listened to and acted upon to continue to grow as a fully inclusive organisation that meets the needs of young people within our borough.”

“We are committed to developing our newly formed Wandsworth Music Youth Council and with Sound Connections support, focusing on particular aspects including; recruitment and growth, student mentoring and the progression of the Youth Council’s fantastic new Live Stream Concert Series, developing students independence, producing and leadership skills.

“We are incredibly excited to see what the next stages will bring!”

The next round for Activate will launch in March 2022. Sign-up to our newsletter here for latest information.

As a small charity we rely upon donations from generous individuals, trusts and companies to support our work with children and young people across London.
