As a small charity we rely upon donations from generous individuals, trusts and companies to support our work with children and young people across London.

Attitude Champion launch and call to action
Here at Sound Connections, we’re on a mission to become an Attitude Champion. We’ve partnered with the inspiring team at Attitude is Everything because we believe in their mission to improve deaf and disabled access to live music and music making activities.
Part of being an Attitude Champion is supporting our network to improve accessibility too, so we’re asking for your help and input. In the first instance this is via a survey. Through your responses, you will help us and Attitude is Everything ascertain the accessibility of music making, discover existing effective practice, learn what the challenges are, and figure out how we can help. We will then share recommendations and solutions. As ever, the best and most powerful change happens through collaboration and partnership.
Jacob Adams, Research and Campaigns Manager at Attitude is Everything, says ‘Attitude is Everything is proud to have partnered with Sound Connections, and to be working together on Attitude Champion. The surveys are designed to capture the current situation regarding the accessibility of music making projects, and the experiences of deaf and disabled practitioners. We are keen to capture the best practice already taking place, and the barriers that still exist in the workplace and when programming sessions. There is a vast wealth of experience and knowledge across the Sound Connections network that we wish to learn more about. Please assist us in championing accessibility and inclusion, so we can work together to make music activities accessible for all’.
We have created two surveys.
- The first survey is for organisations and individuals working in any way with music and young people – it addresses the broader challenges of accessibility across programming and activities.
- The second survey is for practitioners identifying as deaf and disabled so we can understand more about the working and cultural practices of organisations offering music opportunities.
In responding to these surveys you will help us find out more about your current experiences, so we can work together to create positive change. We look forward to hearing from you!
