As a small charity we rely upon donations from generous individuals, trusts and companies to support our work with children and young people across London.

Sound Connections funding success!
We’re pleased to announce that Sound Connections has been successful in our funding bid to Youth Music for our programme of work from 2012-14!
Sound Connections is delighted to have received funding for all four modules we applied for. These are:
Musical Inclusion
Networking – Early Years
Spotlighting – Early Years
Young Music Leadership
Following on from our highly successful Youth Music Action Zone and MusicLeader work, we will develop a programme of direct music making with young people, essential training for music leaders and unique networking opportunities. Our courses, seminars and events, case studies and films, and extensive partnerships will focus on early years music making, engaging young people in challenging circumstances and developing youth-led agendas. We will also support work targeting specific areas of need across London and help smaller organisations and practitioners to launch new projects.
This programme of work will enable Sound Connections to empower anyone involved in music education across London: young people and their families, the broadest range of music leaders, and key decision and policy makers. Our programme of activities supports everyone to engage with music and opens up opportunities to share and learn.
We will undertake the following activity as part of our funding:
– Develop partnerships with A New Direction and the new Music Education Hubs
– Continue to send fortnightly e-newsletters
– Facilitate a comprehensive programme of training courses
– Hold our popular Would Like To Meet… Networking events twice a year
– Create briefing papers and online resources
– Run Start up sessions for people new to working within music education
– Develop a Network of experts working with children and young people in challenging circumstances (CCC)
– Develop our London Early Years Music Network – this will include developing, promoting and recruiting 3 tiers of membership so that more people can engage and benefit; sending out bi-monthly e-newsletters to early years specialists; holding a high-profile early years seminar
– Develop our Wired4Music youth-led activity, with the addition of a new choir and consultation/research with organisations across the sector
Further information will be shared through our fortnightly newsletters and we’ll be updating the website with our plans over the coming months.
