Music and the Nervous System

 

Part 1 of the Sound Connections online training series ‘Music and the Nervous System and Approaches to working with children who have English as a Second Language’, in partnership with I Speak Music.

In this session we will explore the connection between music and the nervous system. Participants will learn about how music can be used as a tool to help regulate the nervous system for children and young people who have experienced trauma and/or stress.

This session will cover:

  • An overview of the Neurobiology of Safety
  • An understanding of how the nervous system responds to music
  • Practical tools to use music to help people feel safe
  • Examples of how to use them in workshops and one on one lessons.
