London Early Years Music Network (LEYMN)

LEYMN champions high quality early years music pedagogy and practice through networking, research and professional development and learning opportunities.

The London Early Years Music Network (LEYMN) aims to:

  • Encourage sharing of effective practice, resources and information within the sector
  • Be a place to debate key issues
  • Be the first port of call for anyone looking for information on Early Years Music Making in London
  • Offer a range of CPD opportunities to anyone working musically in an early years context
  • Keep abreast of developments in the Early Years sector and collaborate with other organisations and networks’ regionally and nationally

LEYMN was started in 2010 with a group of around 15 experts to offer debate and shape activity. We now continue to develop a wider associated membership of musicians, early years practitioners, music organisations, families and indeed anyone with an interest in making music with the under-5s in London.

LEYMN events and activities are curated by Vanessa Stansall, Sound Connections Early Years Music Lead.

“I felt as if I was able to gain a deeper and better understanding in making music inclusive for all from the experts that spoke to us and shared their knowledge. Everyone on the course was friendly and kind – no question was a silly one. The interaction and the way teachers were with all of us during the drumming and ‘music stop-start’ games was so encouraging of our abilities. I know you have extended this to hundreds of children by putting on these courses.”
