Haringey Music Service – Sound Foundations:
Expanding Continuous Early Years Music Provision Across North London
Building on a model that has been successfully developed in Haringey since 2023 which aimed to reenergise early years music following the Covid-19 pandemic, the project will support 12 early years settings across Haringey, Islington and Enfield to strengthen and embed high-quality accessible music-making for children aged 0-5.
The project will bring together early years practitioners, specialist musicians and Groundswell Arts, a London-based charity using creative arts to support children, families and educators, to deliver practitioner CPD, mentoring and enquiry-based projects tailored to each setting.
Through observation-led and participatory approaches, the project aims to provide musical experiences and activities that are shaped by children’s interests, responses, and emerging preferences. By investing in workforce development alongside direct musical experiences, it also aims to strengthen inclusive practice, support communication and early development, and test a scalable model for sustained early years music provision across the North London Music Hub region.
We are delighted to receive this grant from Sound Connections, which will enable us to expand and strengthen our early years work across Enfield, Haringey and Islington. This important funding will help us further our commitment to providing high-quality musical opportunities for young children and families, supporting our shared ambitions across the North London Music Hub.

Youth Voice in Music Hubs: Activate 2026
Tuesday 6 October 2026 | 11am – 1pm | Online via Zoom
Following their participation in Sound Connections’ Activate investment programme 2025/26, Bristol Beacon, Leicestershire Music Hub, and Norfolk & Suffolk Music Hub will share how they have developed youth voice within their practice over the past twelve months.
Whether you are beginning to explore youth voice or looking to deepen your existing practice, this session will offer practical examples, honest reflections and space to consider what youth-led work can look like in different Music Hub contexts.
What to expect:
You’ll hear about the design and delivery of each project from project lead staff and young participants alike. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and take part in open discussion, or simply listen and reflect, on youth voice in practice.
