We are really excited to announce and welcome three new colleagues to Sound Connections, all who are Wired4Music members/alumni. Meet Karmokar, Shakira, and Yasmine!
Karmokar joins us as Wired4Music Assistant Producer for the next five months, where he’ll be supporting Tee and Jasmine on all things W4M, including producing live events with and for our young people, creating social media content, and much more.
Shakira and Yasmine join us on our brand new Wired4Music Associates programme, where they will work on our sector support and consultancy work, learning the ropes of what we do and co-delivering consultancy projects, training and events alongside the team.
Once the training is complete, Wired4Music Associates will become fully-fledged junior members of Sound Connections’ Associate Consultant pool. Keep reading to find out a little bit about each of our new Wired4Music Associates…

Karmokar is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter, rapper, producer, engineer and overall creative from London. He graduated from the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) studying Creative Artistry in 2023, has been a Wired4Music member since 2018, and he is passionate about creating a positive change in the world through his art.
“Working at Wired4Music will allow me to have a direct impact on the youth of London, I am excited to create more opportunities and events for them which will help them on their artistic journey. I also look forward to gaining more music industry experience and expanding my skill set.”

Shakira is a writer and musician from London. Guided by an experimental ethos, her focus as an artist is to reconnect people with raw emotions and encourage critical questioning. Shakira has been involved in various grassroots projects including her Roundhouse residency and Brownswood’s talent initiative Future Bubblers. She has also worked with an array of prestigious brands such as Fred Perry, Universal and Vacheron Constantin. Making music has been a powerful outlet for Shakira over the years and this fuels her passion for creating exciting and inclusive musical opportunities for all.
“I’m excited to be part of a team that values diversity, equity and inclusion. I know first hand the positive impact music education charities can have and being a Wired4Music Associate will not only help with my personal development but will also allow me to be part of the positive change happening in the music industry/education sector.”

Yasmine is a spoken word poet and playwright born and based in South-West London, passionate about sharing stories centring joy, lyricism, and nostalgia from a Black and working-class lens. Yasmine initially worked with Sound Connections as part of the Training and Professional Development Programme in 2022, and is also a Wired4Music member.
“Having worked with Sound Connections in the past, it’s a real privilege to be part of the team as a Wired4Music Associate! It’s rare to find an organisation that trusts young creatives and is keen to invest in their training and development in such a wide variety of transferable skills. I’m really excited for the journey ahead!”
