Sound Connections becomes a National Portfolio Organisation with 3-year investment from Arts Council England!

Sound Connections is thrilled to have officially joined Arts Council England’s 2023 – 2026 Investment Programme as a National Portfolio Organisation as of 1 April 2023! Thanks to this support we now begin our transition to becoming a truly national organisation, and are incredibly excited about what this means for us over the next three years, as we strive towards our ambition of becoming a leader in championing inclusive practice in music education.

Our priorities over the next three years are to provide:
  1. A youth-led programme to support London’s dynamic and diverse community of young people through our Wired4Music community.
  2. Needs-based training and professional development for people working across music education, cultural and youth organisations.
  3. Strategic support for the wider music education sector, from Music Hubs and grassroots charities, youth organisations and local and national arts and cultural organisations.

This investment from Arts Council England means we can now extend our training and professional development opportunities across England enabling more organisations to access what we offer as well as provide support directly to young people across London.

Sound Connections is also currently looking for a new Deputy Director!

We believe that change starts from within. This full-time, central leadership role will be crucial to the next phase of the organisation’s development as an NPO, with a strong focus on fostering a culture of wellbeing, inclusivity and social justice within the Sound Connections team culture.

We are actively encouraging applications from people who are under-represented in the cultural sector and our organisation, including those facing disabling barriers or who have experienced racism.

Wired4Music

Wired4Music has and continues to be an integral aspect of work we do at Sound Connections, through platforming high-quality music opportunities for Londoners aged 16-25 and offering community, practical guidance, support (including financial support) and resources to individuals with music ambitions, ideas and projects.

As we begin to extend our work more nationally, we have consciously made the decision to retain our focus on supporting young Londoners specifically through Wired4Music, as due to the nature of our small team, we feel this will enable us to deliver more meaningful and high-impact impact work with and for the young people of London.

In the coming months, we will continue to share insights into our work, and our plans for the next phase of Sound Connections’ development as a National Portfolio Organisation, and thank you for joining us on this journey!
