Sound Connections launches Music Education Support Offer

At Sound Connections, we are thoroughly committed to supporting the Music Education sector to thrive and have put together an offer to guide you through this period of significant change. We’re here to help you achieve your aims and ambitions, and to develop and deliver a dynamic, high-impact and inclusive offer for children and young people across the country.

Areas where we can support you:

  • Inclusive practice
  • Research, evaluation and impact
  • Strategy, organisational change and development
  • Programme development, progression and pathways
  • Youth voice and participation

We’re a highly skilled and experienced team who work in a warm, friendly, and collaborative way, and we will work alongside you to design and offer bespoke support that is flexible to meet your needs.

Sound Connections are excellent at strategy in music education and evaluation… Strategic consultation too. I value them as an organisation who support organisations to better understand themselves.

Phil Castang - Music for Youth

Here are some recent examples of our work with Music Hubs:

  • Working with the South Riverside Music Partnership to deliver a three-year needs-driven inclusive practice programme for their staff, hub tutors and school-based teachers. This included twilight and full-day training on topics ranging from: supporting pupils with additional needs, de-colonising the curriculum, trauma-informed practice, and music tech; and a 1:1 mentoring programme for practitioners to explore their own practice with the support of an experienced mentor.
  • Undertaking a large-scale research and recommendations process for Arts Council England’s Music Hub Support Programme, consulting with over 80% of Music Hubs on their development and support needs in the aftermath of the pandemic
  • Supporting West Sussex Music Hub over an 18-month period to develop their youth voice and participation strategy including training for the whole staff team and trustees and supporting with set-up and recruitment of their youth advisory group
  • Delivering training and supporting development for Hubs and Services across the country including Barking & Dagenham, Brighton & Hove, Coventry, Essex, Lewisham, the North East Hubs, Rotherham, Southwark, the South West Coastal Alliance, Tower Hamlets, Tri-borough and the West Midlands.

The SC review has massively contributed to the messaging and plan for attack for the TBMH so a huge thanks again for that work you did last year – a brilliant investment in so many ways.
