Innovate 2022-23 applications are now open! More information including how to apply here >

If you are working with young people aged 0-25 in London through music then you can apply for support and investment of up to £1,750 to explore new ideas and approaches to working with children and young people.

In addition to funding, Innovate recipients will also receive mentoring and support from Sound Connections and free access to all Sound Connections training and networking events during the programme.

Innovate is particularly aimed at individuals and grassroots organisations with an annual turnover of less than £100k looking to launch or incubate a project idea and develop new connections and skills.

Project grants

Grants of up to £1,750 are available to individuals and organisations with an annual turnover of less than £100k for projects and ideas that will:

  • Test a new idea or innovative way of working for you or your organisation.
  • Provide a new or innovative activity for young people aged 0-25 who would not normally have access to such activity
  • Offer an honest appraisal of the processes that you, your organisation and the children/young people have experienced – through creating new learning and models of best practice which can be shared across the music sector and beyond

Additional support

  • Mentoring – each grantee will have the opportunity to receive support and mentoring from Sound Connections staff and/or associates through 1:1 conversations.
  • Free tickets for Sound Connections training and networking events between September 2022 – April 2023. Events include training in different areas of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, networks for Early Years, Social Justice and Youth Voice, and our annual Inclusive Practice in Action conference.

Successful candidates will work in close partnership with Sound Connections to develop and deliver the project. Every project’s needs are different, so the Innovate programme can be used to find the most appropriate support for you.
