Innovate Application Details

Click here to download the Innovate 2022-23 FAQs and brief

Before submitting an application please book a surgery with a member of the Sound Connections team. This is a short conversation which will take place on the phone or via Zoom. We will only accept applications from applicants who have had a surgery. These surgeries help you and us to assess whether this fund is right for your project. Zoom surgeries will take place during July and August and can be booked here.

We recommend that you are familiar with the application form in time for your Innovate pre-application surgery, so that any questions can be covered at this stage. This will be emailed to you upon booking a surgery.

Your proposal

Please read the application brief and FAQs document carefully. Please ensure that your project activity is mindful of the recommended considerations outlined. Please be realistic about what you want to achieve and indicate clearly the planned outcomes and outputs. Projects must take place between 1 October 2022 and 31 March 2023.

Match funding

We can offer grants of up to £1,750. It is not mandatory to raise money from other sources, but if your project does include match funding, ensure that the source is clearly shown. If your activity includes match funding, ensure that the source is clearly shown. We understand that at application stage some match funding will be unconfirmed. Please note that you are not eligible to apply if you are also seeking funds from the National Foundation for Youth Music.

Submitting your application

Please type your answers into the form provided. Save your application with your name as part of the file name. Application forms including your project budget must be emailed to with the subject line ‘INNOVATE PROPOSAL’ by 10am on Thursday 1 September 2022. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

We have thought about making the application process as clear, simple and accessible as possible, and continue to work on making sure this is the case. We would be really pleased to hear from you if you need additional support preparing an application, or need us to make reasonable adjustments in order to apply to Innovate (e.g. video applications).
